I currently hold the position of Senior Research Engineer at Samsung Research America (SRA), where I have accumulated pivotal research and industry experience. My primarily focus revolves around enhancing picture quality in Samsung TVs, employing a blend of computer vision and classical image processing techniques. Notably, my areas of research are image super resolution, structured pruning of deep neural networks, and no-reference image quality assessment.
Prior to my role at SRA, I gained valuable industry experience at Infinia ML, a start-up under the leadership of the esteemed Dr. Lawrence Carin, Dr. Ya Xue and Dr. Ricardo Henao. Here, my endeavors included object detection, active learning and estimation of input data distribution shift.
In 2019, I graduated with a masters degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Computer vision, at North Carolina State University. I had the immense privilege of completing my thesis under the guidance of Dr. Tianfu Wu. Motivated by the research around Variational Auto-Encoders (VAE), we developed Attentive Query Networks which was focused towards 2D image generation of 3D scene from unobserved viewpoints. Notably, we introduced an 'attention module' to the original Generative Query Network that significantly improved the network's performance by extracting relevant image patches.
